Student Moving with Spyder

What does a student move with Spyder look like?

Student moves are small, fast and tied to a calendar: move-in week in August, move-out week in May, and a summer in between when the room is empty. Spyder Moving and Storage has offices next to several campuses, starting with the headquarters on University Avenue in Oxford, and books student moves by the hour with a 2-hour minimum, so a one-room move costs the time it takes. Parents can book and pay from another state; the crew works with the student on site. Request a student moving estimate with the campus, the dates and the two addresses.

“True professionals”

Second time moving with Spyder in Denver and WOW, true professionals- they get the job done so fast while being incredibly careful. After my first move with them went so well they were no doubt my first call the second time around. They even helped me get my TV off the wall and my large fragile mirrors that I couldn’t do myself. Makes all the difference to have friendly and efficient movers.

“Worth every penny”

Ours was a local move. Their bid was $900 less than the competitions. Charles and his crew came on time, worked very hard on a very hot day and completed the work in the eight hour timeframe that they had bid. They moved our baby grand piano, which we cherish and did a very fine job. If I have to move again, I’ll call Spyder and ask for Charles and his crew.

“Smooth move to Memphis”

Charles did a great job packing and moving my things from Oxford, MS to Memphis, TN. They did a great job handling my heavier pieces. They were very kind and helpful.

Good to know

Which campuses are near a Spyder office?

  • Oxford, MS: the Spyder headquarters at 1539 University Ave is minutes from the University of Mississippi campus. Oxford crews move students into dorms, Greek houses and apartments around town and store contents over the summer.
  • Hattiesburg, MS: the office at 602 Adeline St serves the University of Southern Mississippi and William Carey University.
  • Memphis, TN: the New Getwell Road office serves the University of Memphis, Rhodes College and Christian Brothers University.
  • Denver, CO: the Leyden Street office serves the University of Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, Regis University and, up the turnpike, CU Boulder and the Colorado School of Mines in Golden.
  • Colorado Springs, CO: the East Platte Avenue office serves UCCS and Colorado College.

Students at Mississippi State in Starkville and Jackson State in Jackson are served from the Oxford and Hattiesburg offices as in-state moves.

How do you keep a student move cheap?

  • Book outside the peak days. Move-in weekends are the busiest days of the year near every campus; a weekday or the week before costs the same rate with more availability.
  • Pack before the crew arrives. Boxes you pack yourself move as they are; the crew packs only what you ask, with materials charged by use.
  • Know the building rules. Many dorms assign loading zones and elevator times during move-in week; send them to the office so the crew does not wait on the clock.
  • Use labor-only help when a parent is driving the truck or trailer: the crew loads and unloads, billed hourly.
  • Share a truck with a roommate moving the same day between the same buildings; one move, one minimum.
Why Spyder

Why students and parents book Spyder

An office next to campus

The Oxford headquarters is on University Avenue, and the other four offices sit within a short drive of the universities they serve.

Small moves, small bills

A dorm room is a 2-hour job at the hourly rate, then 15-minute increments. No full-truck pricing for a half-full room.

Storage between terms

May pickup, summer storage, August delivery. Contents are inventoried at pickup and checked at delivery. Book it with the May move-out.

Booked by parents, done with students

The estimate and payment can be handled by a parent anywhere; the student meets the crew and signs the bill of lading.

Move-in week logistics

Loading zones, elevator slots and dorm check-in times go into the move plan so the crew is not waiting on the clock.

Licensed in three states

Spyder Moving Services LLC holds USDOT 3187084 and MC-132217 for moves between states; Spyder Moving and Storage, LLC holds Colorado PUC permit HHG-00732 for moves inside Colorado.

How much does a student move cost?

Student moves inside one city are billed at the hourly rate on your estimate, with a 2-hour minimum and 15-minute increments, so a dorm room or a one-bedroom apartment costs the time the crew works. Long distance moves from home to campus are priced by mileage, weight and truck space.

Do you move students into dorms at Ole Miss?

Yes. The Spyder headquarters is at 1539 University Ave in Oxford, and Oxford crews move University of Mississippi students into and out of dorms, Greek houses and apartments, with summer storage available. Call (662) 701-8667.

Can you store my things over the summer?

Yes. The crew picks up in May, stores the contents and delivers them to the new dorm or apartment in August. The storage period and both dates are written on the same estimate as the move.

Can my parents book the move from another state?

Yes. A parent can request the estimate, confirm the date and pay the deposit by card from anywhere. The student meets the crew, points out what goes, and signs the bill of lading at the end.

Do you offer loading help if we have our own truck?

Yes. Labor-only help is billed hourly with the same 2-hour minimum: the crew loads or unloads your rental truck, trailer or car at the dorm or apartment.

How do dorm move-in days work with movers?

Most campuses assign loading zones, time slots and elevator access during move-in week. Send the dorm's instructions to the office when you book; the crew plans the arrival around them so waiting time stays off your bill.
