Heavy Item Movers with Spyder

Which heavy items does Spyder move?

Some items are a move on their own: a treadmill going to the basement, a hot tub to a new deck, a commercial refrigerator to a restaurant, an armoire that will not fit the stairwell it came up. Spyder Moving and Storage moves single heavy pieces as a dedicated job or as part of a home move, with crews sized to the weight and the equipment the item needs. Pianos and gun safes have their own pages and rates; everything else heavy is here. Request a heavy item moving estimate with the item, its approximate weight and the floors at both ends.

“True professionals”

Second time moving with Spyder in Denver and WOW, true professionals- they get the job done so fast while being incredibly careful. After my first move with them went so well they were no doubt my first call the second time around. They even helped me get my TV off the wall and my large fragile mirrors that I couldn’t do myself. Makes all the difference to have friendly and efficient movers.

“Worth every penny”

Ours was a local move. Their bid was $900 less than the competitions. Charles and his crew came on time, worked very hard on a very hot day and completed the work in the eight hour timeframe that they had bid. They moved our baby grand piano, which we cherish and did a very fine job. If I have to move again, I’ll call Spyder and ask for Charles and his crew.

Charles did a great job packing and moving my things from Oxford, MS to Memphis, TN. They did a great job handling my heavier pieces. They were very kind and helpful.

Good to know

How are heavy items priced?

Heavy items are quoted on the written estimate by weight, the stairs at each address and the access path, following the company policy. As part of a home move they are handled within the hourly time with any specialty charge listed; moved on their own they are quoted as a flat job. Basic carrier liability of $0.60 per pound per item is included, which for a 300-pound item is $180, so the estimate also offers depreciated value or full replacement protection for pieces worth more than that. Electronics inside fitness equipment and appliances are not covered under any option, which is another reason to send the model so the crew moves it the way the manufacturer specifies.

Heavy items with their own pages

  • Gun safe moving: safes from 200 to over 1,500 pounds, quoted by weight class, stairs and access.
  • Piano moving: flat rates of $120 for an upright, $240 for a baby grand and $360 for an antique piano, plus the same per extra flight of stairs.

Quoted before the move

Weight, stairs and access set the price on a written estimate, with any specialty charge listed before moving day.

Drawers out, doors secured

Furniture is emptied, wrapped in free moving blankets and carried or dollied, with floor runners down and door frames protected.

How much does it cost to move one heavy item?

A single heavy item is quoted as a flat job on the written estimate from its weight, the stairs at both addresses and the access path. If the item is part of a home move, it is handled within the hourly time with any specialty charge listed. Send the item and photos of the path for a quote.

Do you move hot tubs?

Yes. The hot tub must be drained and dry and disconnected from power by your electrician before the crew arrives. It is tipped on edge onto a skid or dolly and moved with straps by a crew sized to the shell.

Can you move a treadmill or home gym to the basement?

Yes. Fitness equipment is folded or partially disassembled, strapped to a heavy-duty dolly and taken down with stair equipment. Remove weight plates and loose parts and unplug the machine beforehand.

Do you disconnect and reconnect appliances?

No. Refrigerators, freezers, washers and dryers are moved empty and upright, but water and gas lines are disconnected and reconnected by your technician. Spyder is not responsible for the mechanical condition of appliances.

Do you move gun safes and pianos too?

Yes, on their own terms. Gun safes are quoted by weight class, stairs and access on the gun safe moving page. Pianos have flat rates: $120 upright, $240 baby grand, $360 antique, plus the same per extra flight of stairs.
