Gun Safe Movers with Spyder

How does Spyder move a gun safe?

A gun safe is the heaviest single object in most homes, and it is the one item that standard moving crews and friends with a pickup get hurt on. Spyder Moving and Storage moves safes as a dedicated job or as part of a full move: the office asks for the make, model or weight, the floors at both ends and the path from the door, then sends a crew sized for that weight with heavy-duty dollies, straps, stair equipment and floor protection. Safes are quoted on a written estimate by weight, stairs and access. Request a gun safe moving estimate with the model and the floors involved.

“True professionals”

Second time moving with Spyder in Denver and WOW, true professionals- they get the job done so fast while being incredibly careful. After my first move with them went so well they were no doubt my first call the second time around. They even helped me get my TV off the wall and my large fragile mirrors that I couldn’t do myself. Makes all the difference to have friendly and efficient movers.

“Worth every penny”

Ours was a local move. Their bid was $900 less than the competitions. Charles and his crew came on time, worked very hard on a very hot day and completed the work in the eight hour timeframe that they had bid. They moved our baby grand piano, which we cherish and did a very fine job. If I have to move again, I’ll call Spyder and ask for Charles and his crew.

“Smooth move to Memphis”

Charles did a great job packing and moving my things from Oxford, MS to Memphis, TN. They did a great job handling my heavier pieces. They were very kind and helpful.

How much does it cost to move a gun safe?

Spyder Moving and Storage quotes gun safe moves on the estimate from three facts: the weight class, the number of stairs or steps at each address, and the access path (door widths, turns, tile or hardwood floors to protect). A safe moved as part of a local home move is handled within the hourly time with a specialty charge on the estimate; a safe moved by itself is quoted as a flat job. Either way the number is written before the crew arrives.

Weight classTypical safesWhat the crew bringsWhat changes the price
Under 300 lbSmall closet and entry-level long-gun safesTwo movers, heavy-duty dolly, straps, floor runnersInterior stairs, carrying distance from the truck
300–700 lbMid-size residential gun safes, most popular modelsTwo to three movers, stair-climbing dolly, door and corner protectionFlights of stairs, basement or upstairs placement, tight turns
700–1,200 lbLarge fire-rated gun safes, jewelry and document safesThree movers, stair equipment, skid board, additional floor protectionAny stairs, outdoor steps, gravel or lawn between truck and door
Over 1,200 lbCommercial and oversized vault-style safesCrew and equipment confirmed by the office after photos or a site visitAccess review required before the estimate is final
Weight classes are a planning guide. Give the office the make and model and it will size the crew from the manufacturer's weight.

Good to know

What should you do before the safe movers arrive?

  • Empty the safe of firearms, ammunition and valuables and keep them with you. Spyder crews do not transport the contents, and items of extraordinary value are excluded from the valuation options in the company policy.
  • Leave the door closed and locked, or removed by you if the manufacturer allows it, so it cannot swing during the move. Have the combination or key available in case the door must be secured.
  • Unbolt the safe from the floor or tell the office it is bolted; the crew brings tools to remove anchor bolts when that is arranged in advance.
  • Clear the path at both addresses and send photos of stairs, landings and the final spot. Two parking spaces for a 26-foot truck within 75 feet of the door are needed.
  • Decide the final position before moving day. Moving a 700-pound safe a second time is a second job.

Where does Spyder move gun safes?

Safe moves are booked through all five offices: within one city, between homes across Mississippi, Tennessee or Colorado, and as part of long distance moves between states. A safe is also the item people most often need moved on its own, after buying one from a dealer or when a home sells: the Denver, Memphis and Oxford offices regularly collect a safe at a store or a previous owner's house and deliver it to the buyer's home, including basement or upstairs placement.

Related services: heavy item moving for gym equipment, hot tubs and appliances, and piano moving with its own flat rates.

Call (800) 221-3560

How much does it cost to move a gun safe?

Spyder Moving and Storage quotes each safe by its weight class, the stairs at both addresses and the access path, and writes the price on the estimate before the move. A safe moved with a full home move is handled within the hourly time with a specialty charge; a safe moved alone is quoted as a flat job. Send the make and model for an exact quote.

Do you move gun safes in Aurora and Denver?

Yes. The Denver office at 4777 Leyden St moves safes throughout the Denver metro, with Aurora among the most common addresses, including dealer pickups and basement placement. Call (720) 545-3187 with the model and the floors involved.

Can you move a safe up or down stairs?

Yes. Stairs are the main factor in the quote, and the crew brings stair-climbing dollies, skid boards and straps for them. Tell the office the number of flights, whether there are landings or turns, and whether the steps are inside or outside.

Should I empty the safe before the move?

Yes. Remove firearms, ammunition and valuables and keep them with you; the crew moves the safe itself. Leave the door closed and locked so it cannot swing, and have the combination available.

Can you pick up a safe from a dealer or a private seller?

Yes. Give the office the pickup address, the model and the delivery spot in your home, and the crew collects the safe and places it. Pickups from stores need the seller's loading hours.

How heavy a safe can you move?

Crews regularly move safes up to about 1,200 pounds with standard stair equipment. Heavier vault-style safes are reviewed by the office with photos or a site visit before the estimate is final.
