Key takeaways
Spyder Moving and Storage has backed the Oxford Animal Resource Center since at least 2024, and in March 2026 it sponsored the Fetch Photo Truck mobile studio at Pawtraits & Pints in Denver. Oxford residents can adopt, foster or volunteer through the shelter's website, and Spyder is looking for more shelter partners near its five offices.
Spyder Moving and Storage supports the Oxford Animal Resource Center, the animal shelter on McElroy Drive in Oxford, Mississippi, and has carried that interest in animal welfare to Denver, where it sponsored the Fetch Photo Truck at the Pawtraits & Pints pet portrait event in Cherry Creek in March 2026. Both are part of Spyder’s wider community work, and the company has said it wants to add more shelter partners near its offices.
What is the Oxford Animal Resource Center?
The Oxford Animal Resource Center is the shelter and animal services center at 413 McElroy Drive in Oxford. It works by appointment, so visitors call ahead at (662) 234-3981 before coming in. According to its website, the center handles:
- adoptions of dogs and cats, with an online adoption application;
- foster programs for dogs and cats;
- help with lost and found pets;
- stray and owner surrenders;
- animal control services.
For a college town like Oxford, where many residents move in and out every year, that work matters. Pets get lost during moves, and some are surrendered when a family’s next home does not allow them. A shelter that reunites, fosters and rehomes animals picks up a lot of what moving season leaves behind.
How Spyder supports the shelter
Spyder Moving and Storage has its headquarters at 1539 University Avenue in Oxford, a few minutes from the shelter, and has backed the Animal Resource Center since at least 2024. Spyder says a fixed portion of the proceeds from every move it books, in Mississippi, Tennessee and Colorado, goes to the shelter to help with costs such as veterinary care and day-to-day operations.
That support fits the company’s commitment announced in September 2026. The release said Spyder would look for more local partners, including pet shelters, and would ask its drivers and staff which ones need help. “If a driver tells me about a shelter that needs help, that’s worth listening to,” founder Vlad Ladygin said.
Pawtraits & Pints: free pet portraits in Cherry Creek
In Denver, Spyder’s support for animals took a lighter form. Pawtraits & Pints is a pet portrait event held at Chopper’s Sports Bar & Grill in Cherry Creek, organized within Denver’s real estate community, where local agents could book a free photo session for their pets. The 2026 edition, in March, offered 30 session slots, and its organizers describe it as a yearly event.
Spyder sponsored the Fetch Photo Truck, a Denver mobile pet photography studio built into a converted travel trailer, which served as the event’s portrait studio. It was not Spyder’s first pet event in Denver: in October 2024, the company was among the local partners of the Mile High Heine pet photoshoot event in the city.
Why animal welfare matters to a moving company
Moving day is hard on pets. Doors stay open for hours, rooms empty out, and strangers carry furniture past the food bowl. Spyder’s crews see that in every home they work in, from Oxford to Denver. Some families cannot take a pet to their next home, and some pets slip out and get lost in the confusion. Local shelters deal with both, and supporting them also follows the simple rule Ladygin set out in the company’s 2026 commitment: help where the trucks and crews already are.
How you can help animals in Oxford and Denver
You do not need to move to help. A few practical options:
- Adopt or foster through the Oxford Animal Resource Center. Applications are on its website, and visits are by appointment.
- Volunteer or donate through the same site if you live in or near Oxford.
- Plan your pet’s moving day. Keep cats and dogs in a closed room or with a friend while the crew works, and update microchip details with your new address.
- Tell Spyder about a shelter. If you know a shelter near one of Spyder’s offices that could use help, the company wants to hear about it.
More from Spyder in the community
The Oxford Animal Resource Center and Pawtraits & Pints sit alongside Spyder’s Move for Hunger partnership, the Denver Children’s Foundation and the other partners covered in Spyder News. Spyder Moving and Storage has offices in Oxford, Hattiesburg, Memphis, Denver and Colorado Springs, and if you know a shelter or local cause near one of them, the team would like to hear about it.
