Most storage requests come from a gap: the lease ends on the 30th and the closing is on the 10th, the renovation runs long, or a long distance shipment arrives before the new house is ready. Storage is priced on the written estimate alongside the move, based on the size of the shipment and the number of weeks or months. The move portion follows the usual company policy: hourly with a 2-hour minimum for local moves, mileage and weight for long distance, and boxes charged by use. Ask the office for the storage rate for your shipment size and period when you book.
Keep documents, jewelry, cash, medication and anything of extraordinary value with you; these are excluded from the valuation options. Refrigerators and freezers are stored empty, defrosted and dry. Plants, food and liquids do not travel or store well and should be moved by you.
The list made at pickup is the list checked at delivery, so nothing is lost between a mover and a storage company.
Furniture is wrapped in free moving blankets at pickup and stays wrapped in storage until delivery to your new home.
Pickup date, storage period and delivery date are written on the estimate; changes go through the office that holds your shipment.
Released value of $0.60 per pound per item applies through storage; full replacement protection can be chosen on the estimate.
