“True professionals”

Second time moving with Spyder in Denver and WOW, true professionals- they get the job done so fast while being incredibly careful. After my first move with them went so well they were no doubt my first call the second time around. They even helped me get my TV off the wall and my large fragile mirrors that I couldn’t do myself. Makes all the difference to have friendly and efficient movers.

“Worth every penny”

Ours was a local move. Their bid was $900 less than the competitions. Charles and his crew came on time, worked very hard on a very hot day and completed the work in the eight hour timeframe that they had bid. They moved our baby grand piano, which we cherish and did a very fine job. If I have to move again, I’ll call Spyder and ask for Charles and his crew.

“Smooth move to Memphis”

Charles did a great job packing and moving my things from Oxford, MS to Memphis, TN. They did a great job handling my heavier pieces. They were very kind and helpful.

How much does moving to Atlanta cost?

Spyder prices a move to Atlanta by three things: mileage, the weight of your shipment and the space it takes on the truck. An estimator lists your furniture and boxes by video call or in person, and the total goes on one written estimate. Mileage is the part you can see before anyone visits, so here is how far Atlanta is from each Spyder office.

*For a sense of scale, average long-distance prices with full-service movers in 2026 are about $1,500–$3,200 for a studio, $2,000–$4,500 for one bedroom, $3,500–$7,500 for two bedrooms and $5,500–$12,000 for three to four bedrooms (FreightWaves Checkpoint). These are market averages for all movers, not Spyder rates; your Spyder price is on your written estimate.

Moving blankets are free. Basic carrier liability of $0.60 per pound per item is included, and full replacement coverage costs $20 per $1,000 of declared value. The deposit is paid by card when you book; the balance is due in Atlanta before the crew unloads.

Good to know

Can a moving truck drive inside I-285?

Yes, when it is delivering inside the Perimeter. Georgia law keeps trucks that are only passing through on I-285 and off I-20, I-75, I-85 and GA-400 inside it, but a truck making a pickup or delivery inside the loop may enter. Our drivers plan the last miles to your street, so tell us about low trees, gated entries or a loading dock in advance.

The City of Atlanta has no moving permit as such. If the truck has to block a lane or metered spaces, ATLDOT issues a lane-use permit: a $35 fixed fee plus $15 a day for up to 100 feet, or $17 per meter per day for parking meters. Applications need a notarized affidavit and are processed Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM to 5 PM, so start a week ahead. As the company policy says, the customer obtains the permit, and our office tells you how much curb the 26-foot truck needs.

What should you do after you arrive in Atlanta?

  • Driver's license: apply for a Georgia license within 30 days of becoming a resident, at any DDS Customer Service Center, with two proofs of residency.
  • Vehicle registration: register your car at the County Tag Office within 30 days of the move. New residents pay a one-time Title Ad Valorem Tax, and late registration can cost $100 or more.
  • Building rules: many Midtown and Buckhead high-rises book the freight elevator and loading dock ahead and charge a move-in fee. Ask your building for its rules and pass them to our office.

When is the best time to move to Atlanta?

Atlanta averages 47 days a year at 90°F or hotter, and July highs average 90°F. For a summer move to Atlanta, book a morning arrival window so most of the unloading happens before the afternoon heat. Winter brings little snow, about 2 inches a year, but ice can close interstates for a day; our drivers stop when roads are unsafe, and the office calls you with the new delivery date. Spring and fall are the easiest seasons for both crews and customers.

Do you also move from Atlanta to Mississippi, Tennessee or Colorado?

Yes. When a job or family brings you back, Spyder runs the same routes from Atlanta. Atlanta to Oxford, Memphis or Hattiesburg is the same one-day drive in reverse, and Atlanta to Denver or Colorado Springs is three driving days. The office nearest your new home plans the move. If you are still comparing cities, our guide to moving from Memphis to Atlanta covers neighborhoods and commute times.
